Rev. I. Asir began his earthly journey on 11th January 1950 when he was born into a conservative Christian family, in a small village in Tirunelvi district of Tamil Nadu. At the age of 15 he committed his life to Jesus and in the year 1970 he obeyed God’s call for full time ministry and joined A.G. Tamil Nadu Bible College, to equip himself for the same.
In December 1974, God blessed him with a good life partner Daisy, a woman of prayer, vision & faith. In the year 1979 as an answer to God’s calling, they came to Pondicherry amidst a lot of adversities, and started a church in a rented house. With no other source of encouragement, just holding on to the God’s promise, they kept moving towards the one goal of reaching the masses with the Lords word.
Though the church started with a very humble beginning with absolutely no believers for the first 6 months, God kept his promise and started blessing the ministry in an abundant manner. The main church foundation was laid on 3rd June 1997 and by faith and prayers the church with a seating capacity of 3500 people was completed and dedicated on 3rd June 2007.
Rev. I. Asir had a great zeal towards the missions field and served as the Missions director of Tamil District Council of SIAG for a period of 5 years till his death. He had financed and supported 120 missionaries in various parts of India and dedicated his time to mission trips. God enabled him to plant 32 churches within Pondicherry and 7 churches in other locations. Through Vision India, he trained 460 believers to minister and work in the villages of Pondicherry. The first model House Church was built and dedicated by him in Pondicherry and he had the vision to build 100 such Village House Churches.
He went to be with the Lord, in a sudden car accident on 20th December 2010. The vision and commitment that Rev. I. Asir had towards the Lord’s work, will be carried forward by the congregation of HAG along with his wife Sr. Daisy, his daughter Sr. Beulah with her husband Pr. Nixon, and his sons Pr. Steve and Br. Isaac.

Tribute to our Founder Pastor
Rev. I. Asir answered God’s call and came to Pondicherry to set up his ministry in the year 1979. His prayers and dedication helped build the Hallelujah Assembly of God Church from absolutely no believers to a large congregation of about 2500 people. He served as the Missions director of Tamil District Council of SIAG and had a strong dedication towards missions work. He lived his entire life with the zeal to reach the unreached with the gospel of Christ.
On 20th December 2010, as he was returning home from Chennai along with his family, the car met with a tragic accident and he went to be with the Lord. We the family and congregation of Hallelujah Assembly of God were shocked by such a sudden demise of our mentor and loving pastor. He will be deeply remembered and missed for his humble nature and his dedication and zeal towards the Lords work. We wish to carry on with his vision on the earth as he rests to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
